How did THAT MyStore get on MY MySpace page?

Thanks to recent partnerships with CD Baby and major aggregators IODA and The Orchard, SNOCAP has been generating MyStores containing tracks from artists who distribute their music through these services. We create the MyStores based on the artist names associated with the tracks. Once the stores are generated, we get MySpace friend IDs for those artists from our partners, and if there’s an exact match, we, through our partnership with MySpace, add the MyStore to the matching MySpace page.

Our partners have done their best to keep artists in the loop about this new distribution channel on MySpace, but sometimes those messages don’t get to the right place. With more than 170 million MySpace pages out there, you can imagine how hard it is to be right every time. If your store does get put on your MySpace page correctly, then you have from that moment on the opportunity to reach that 170 million people. That’s quite an audience.

Here are some instructions for controlling how your music is being integrated in MySpace.

Those aren’t my tracks—please remove this MyStore

We do our best to match the artist names we get from our partners to the MySpace pages that they also provide. Sometimes an artist name matches the wrong artist on MySpace. If you have somebody else’s MyStore on your page, please email support@snocap.com (put “SNO: 35334” in the subject line) with your MySpace page URL and we’ll take it down. It usually takes us 24 hours or so to remove the store, so hang in there with us. You can also hide the MyStore by going to your MySpace profile, click Account Settings => Profile Settings and uncheck the box next to “Display my Music Store on my profile”.

I don’t want a MyStore on my MySpace page

You can hide the MyStore by going to your MySpace profile, click Account Settings => Profile Settings and uncheck the box next to “Display my Music Store on my profile”. While we hope you don’t want to, we can also permanently remove the MyStore from your MySpace account too—send an email to support@snocap.com (put “SNO: 35334” in the subject line) with your MySpace URL.

I want a different MyStore on my MySpace page

You might be affiliated with multiple distributors, or you may sell tracks under multiple artist names. In this case, there may be another store containing your tracks that you’d prefer to integrate in your MySpace page. To find MyStores in our system that contain your tracks, use our search interface (http://www.snocap.com/stores) and type in any names you’ve used. You’ll get a list of resulting MyStores. Click on the “Spread the Word” link on the MyStore you want and copy the embedding code. Email support@snocap.com with your MySpace URL and the code for the desired store and we’ll take care of it for you.

I have more than one MyStore—how do I get them all on my MySpace page?

You can place multiple MyStores on your MySpace page. To find all the stores that might belong to you (for example if you distribute music through an aggregator and also CD Baby, or you have tracks registered under different names) use our search interface (http://www.snocap.com/stores) and type in any names you’ve used. To integrate a store on your MySpace page right below the MySpace music player, email support@snocap.com with the code for the MyStore and the URL of your MySpace page. You can add additional MyStores by pasting the HTML for these stores anywhere on your MySpace page. Click on the “Spread the Word” link on the MyStore you want and copy the embedding code to the section of your MySpace profile where you want it to appear. Your fans can do this too!

How do I change the tracks or artwork in my MyStore

If the MyStore was generated by you directly (you created a SNOCAP account and uploaded your tracks), log in to the SNOCAP Registry (http://www.snocap.com) and click the “Sell Your Music” tab. If the MyStore was generated through one of our partners (like CD Baby), check your email inbox for instructions from them telling you how to log into SNOCAP. If you didn’t get an email with these instructions, contact the distributor/aggregator and request that it be re-sent. If you don’t know which distributor is responsible for a MyStore with your tracks in it, email support@snocap.com with the code of the MyStore and we’ll find out.
